Case StudiesMedical Device Development…Product Requirements A venture backed start-up with a novel device to treat stroke retained MedX3 as their marketing resource to develop customer defined product requirements. The device would have to meet the needs of the pivotal clinical trial as well as first commercialization and included hardware and consumable components. To gauge customer response to the prototype device, MedX3 conducted in-person and web-based focus groups. In addition, a web survey was designed and administered to quantify end-user responses. From the results, a second phase prototype was designed with significant modifications to all aspects of the original design. Medical Device Research… Marketing Opportunity Assessment Atrial fibrillation is a widely recognized, rapidly growing, debilitating and costly heart ailment. Knowing this, a venture capital firm made a significant investment in a novel therapy platform. To confirm and better define the market opportunity for the cardiac surgery and electrophysiology clinical segments, the VC's selected MedX3 through a competitive bidding process. MedX3's prior experience and clinical contacts complemented our overall strategic approach to this assignment. Expert high-level interviews, web surveys and our own experience and contacts were incorporated into a comprehensive market assessment report. The report included a quantified market size for each segment as well as initial recommendations for pricing strategy. We were also able to use our mutual contacts in Europe to help support the expansion of the market assessment outside the U.S. Medical Sales…. Account Targeting A publicly traded, high growth medical device company wanted to increase awareness and sales in cardiac surgery. MedX3 was retained to help define strategies and tactics to increase the product profile and sales in this segment. By leveraging contacts and in-depth experience within the Cardiac Surgery community, MedX3 was able to get audiences with key decision-makers thereby significantly accelerating the sales and adoption process at high-profile centers. These contacts also set the stage for publications from these Key Opinion Leaders. This is the first step in establishing a framework for peer-to-peer influence around this important product. |
